I just got confirmation from Ice Town on how the ticket ordering for this event is going to work, and here is the breakdown:
1. The players ( all of the mini mite kids) tickets are taken care of
2. All other tickets need to be ordered through the Ontario Reign box office ( I will not be taking ticket orders ),
Erik Blaisdell is our contact at the Reign. He can be contacted by calling 909-941-PUCK. As for Erik, let him know you are with the Jr Reign Mini Mites and this is for the intermission skate on 2/9.
I didn't have anyone tell me they could not attend -- so I am assuming ALL of our players will be able to make it on 2/9. If this is NOT the case, please let me know as soon as possible. It is important that I have an accurate head count so I can let the Reign know ahead of time, and we can make arrangements if need be.
Thanks everyone,
John Stauffacher

www.Hockey-Community.com
I joined this site a few weeks ago, and I'm trying to get the CEO to add a parent registration. If you would be interested in getting added as a parent, please let me know. I think it would be a great opportunity for us to find more kids nearby in the same age group. Take a look at the website, and register yourself if you like (I used Facebook connect to register myself).

Saturday Locker Rooms
In talking with Matt, we will have our own locker room for Saturday practices. This should alleviate some of the congestion on Saturday mornings. Unfortunately, Sundays are just too busy for us to have our own locker room before games.
Holiday Tournament: - Update
I am working on preparing our entry into the holiday tournament at Ice Town on 12/26 - 29. I already know a few of you will not be available, if I can get a head count of who WILL be available, I can start getting stuff together. If you have not already submitted to me a birth certificate - I will need a copy of that at this time as well.
Picture Night - 11/22
Team Picture Night will be this coming Monday Nov 22nd, I will have order forms for you on Saturday, please fill them out and bring them with you on Monday. I will have the jersey colors for you after speaking with the photographer ( please bring both ). ADM Meeting 11/7/2010
ADM Parent Meeting: A few weeks ago the coaching staff at Ice Town, including their Hockey Director participated in a ADM clinic hosted by Staples Center and USA Hockey. This clinic focused on how to build and run a successful ADM style Cross Ice program for young hockey players. On SUNDAY NOVEMBER 7th at 12:00pm they are holding a Parent Meeting at IceTown to go over what they have learned, and how they plan on implementing these new findings into our program. This will also allow us a forum to ask all those questions of the IceTown coaching staff that we have been meaning to ask, but never knew who to ask - or when. I encourage all of you to make the time to be there and take part in this event, it should be well worth the extra time.

Update from Icetown
I would first off like to sincerely apologize for the mishap in scheduling last night. With the delay in game schedules from SCAHA, we did not accommodate the ice accordingly and double booked the ice. LA Kings Intermission Skate
The idea was brought up on Wednesday about an intermission skate at a Los Angeles Kings game. I have some good news. It looks like there is an available intermission skate on Nov 4 ( everything else is pretty much booked through the new year). This date is less than a month away so if we want to do it -- we need to act fast and start working on getting tickets sold. Here is the what we get:
The Date - Thursday, November 4th vs. Tampa Bay 7:30pm
What we get -
As part of a sponsorship deal, we’ll provide the kids with a free replica Kings jersey to wear during the intermission. The kids will keep the jerseys. We also provide you with one DVD copy of the skate.
What we need to do-
We ask that teams purchase 50 lower level tickets for an intermission skate. For this game, these seats start at $46 a seat
Our commitment-
I need a $200 deposit to hold the date. The deposit is non-refundable and will be applied towards the tickets purchase. If each family can pitch in $20 - and commit to sell 5 tickets a piece, we can make this happen.
Having walked out on the ice at Staples before, I can tell you - this is one of those things I don't think any of our kids will forget.
This is not mandatory, but it is something we need to agree to do as a team. If we are all Ok with this - and think its something that we can do - then I would like to get back to Chris as soon as possible (Monday morning at the latest). Which would mean, I'd need the $20 deposit - on Saturday morning, or Sunday afternoon. Sorry for the short notice - I was not expecting all the slots to be full.
As always, I am open to anyone's comments or suggestions.

3. Our game will be at 1:30pm on this Sunday ( further game schedule will be provided once Ice Town has a good idea of teams and ice slots).

SCAHA CHAMPS
This year the mini mite team has the opportunity to join the SCAHA CHAMPS (California Hockey Athletes Making Progress Scholastically) program. Below is a short letter from SCAHA on what CHAMPS is all about:
Dear Parents and Athletes,
SCAHA would like invite you to participate in a program established last year called CHAMPS (California Hockey Athletes Making Progress Scholastically) and it is designed to encourage student athletes to maintain good grades while participating in youth hockey and to reward their performance.
With the chance of sports scholarships extremely slim, life lessons and lifetime memories become the priorities in all youth sporting activities.
California Hockey Athletes Making Progress Scholastically (CHAMPS) was established by the Anaheim Ducks and LA Kings in conjunction with SCAHA to encourage, support and reward youth hockey players who commit themselves to their schoolwork while enjoying the sport of hockey.
It is the goal of the California Hockey Athletes Making Progress Scholastically (CHAMPS), SCAHA, the Anaheim Ducks and LA Kings to significantly increase awareness among youth hockey players that performance in the classroom has an equal, if not more important part in life than their performance on the ice. It is also a goal of CHAMPS to generate a respect for learning in the classroom and to create future goals with and without ice hockey.
Each SCAHA member club is encouraged to join in our effort to reward every hard working hockey player both on and off the ice. Participants will receive patches to wear on their team jerseys (location is on the left front chest)compliments of the local NHL teams, tickets to either the Anaheim Ducks or LA Kings game, and be entered into an opportunity drawing for prizes, gift certificates and tickets to NHL games.
Your team manager will collect the information form and all that is required from you and your player is a record of last year’s report card, email contact and years participating. This will be used to determine who receives the patch and rewards for the season of 2010-2011.
Please turn in your report card form the prior year to your manager and they will put it into our system. We need your email and also your year participating. The due date for report cards is September 25th, 2010. They will input the information and pass it on to the CHAMPS SCAHA coordinator. All information will be kept in the strictest confidence and used to reward those participating in our program
If you are interested in being involved in CHAMPS at a club level or SCAHA level, please feel free to contact us through SCAHA at champs@scaha.com.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO: I am going to need a copy (legible) of your child's past report card / progress report / status report / something. Please make sure to redact (cross out) any information that you would not like to share with anyone (i.e. school ID numbers etc). I do need to have the grades (pass fail is OK, check marks are OK, smiley faces are OK). I need this information AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. The deadline for me to get all this to SCAHA is Sept 25. So there is not much time (from me it has to go to the Jr Reign and from there to SCAHA).
WHAT IF MY CHILD DOESN'T HAVE A REPORT CARD FROM LAST YEAR: I was told by SCAHA that it is OK if your child does not have a report card or status report from the prior year. They can alternatively SUBMIT A PIECE OF ARTWORK SHOWING HOW MUCH THEY LOVE SCHOOL. Most of our kids have been in school for a few weeks now, so have them sit down and draw out a picture of their favorite activity at school, or why they like school. If they are writers, have them write a short sentence about why they like school. The idea is that we want to reinforce the value of education.
WHAT DO WE GET IN RETURN: Each child will receive a patch for their jersey. Every year they participate in the program, they will get a subsequent patch to add to their jersey. Jr Reign CHAMPS participants will also receive 2 free tickets through a flier from the Ducks. Through email, you will receive an opportunity to choose your game and purchase more tickets for your family at a special price. The Ducks will also provide extra activities during the games for some of the CHAMPS players attending, such as game intermissions, zamboni rides, and tickets through out the year.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT I GET THIS INFORMATION AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I prefer scans to email, but if you want, please drop them off at the box office and have them mark it to the attention of the mini mite team. Please send me an email when you do so I can go retrieve it.

Club and Team Finances
Junior Reign Club Fund Raising
As listed in the parent contract, Jr Reign Club fundraisers are required. The money raised is to fund the "scholarships" which offset the costs for players that need extra assistance with the club fees. Please note that club fund raising is not optional. More information will be available on the Events page.
Team Fund Raising
Please let us know your ideas for team fund raising. Separate from the Junior Reign Club fund raising, team fund raising is optional. The money raised for the team will be used for the team such as tournament fee's and/or open skate/scrimmage at a Ducks/Kings/Reign game. We have access to the Ontario Reign, Anaheim Ducks, and LA Kings organizations. Some examples of team fund raising would be selling single game tickets, VIP packages, and Chuck-A-Puck. If you are against fund raising, please email John.
Team Sponsorships
If any of you know of any company that would like to sponsor our team, or make a donation to our team fund - let me know. We can provide the Sponsorship letter and our proof of non-profit status. If the money is ear-marked for a specific player(s) dues; the IVHA will make sure that those monies get credited to that specific player; otherwise it will go into the team account. This is totally separate from the Junior Reign sponsorship opportunities and is specific to our individual team.
Club Scholarships
Any player can apply for the Scholarship program. Assistance is about 15%, and the deadline to file is soon. Contact John if you think you need assistance. Again, this money is coming from the Junior Reign Club Fund Raising.

Parents:
You should have all received an email from our team manager, John Stauffacher on September 3rd. Here is a reminder of some of the things you need to provide to either John or IceTown ASAP.
You should have all received an email from our team manager, John Stauffacher on September 3rd. Here is a reminder of some of the things you need to provide to either John or IceTown ASAP.
- 1st Payment due to IceTown. Payments are due at the beginning of the month, and invoices are sent out standard mail. Please make your payments on time. There is a sign in the box office window stating there is a $50 late charge after 10 days.
- Players' Birth Certificates for the Jr. Reign club file. Legible copies are accepted, and are necessary for tournaments and SCAHA next year.
- Locker Room Rule is in effect, meaning all adults must be screened to be allowed in the locker room. The cost is about $28 and lasts for 3 years. The information to get the screening started is located here
- Hockey Academy. IceTown needs a 30-day notice for cancellation of hockey academy. The box office has a short form you can fill out, so you don't get charged the following month.
